Password Protected Areas
Often you need to be able to protect the contents of a certain folder from the public.
In such cases, it is useful to setup a password protection, so whenever someone tries to access the folder, a login form would be displayed. Unless the visitor enters the correct username and password, he would be denied access.
At FreeHostia, we have several tools that would allow you create a password protection for a folder. Let’s say you want to protect the URL http://my-best-domain.com/protected
In this case you would have to setup password protection for the folder “protected”. On your web hosting control panel, under “Site Management” you can find the section called “Password Protected Areas”. Here you can easily create a password protection for a folder. The sole purpose of this section of the web hosting control panel is to allow you to setup password protection, so this is the option, which I would personally recommend.
The Password Protected Areas tool is available for free hosting users as well as paid hosting users.
